- There is no completed human trial testing TB-500 for muscle or training recovery, so a benefit is not established. Recovery claims extrapolate from animal wound-healing and cardiac-repair studies of the parent peptide thymosin beta-4, which is a different context from injected fragment use for athletic recovery.
- Is there any human evidence for thymosin beta-4?
- The strongest human data is a randomized Phase 2 trial of a thymosin beta-4 eye drop for dry eye (Sosne 2015). It is well-designed but tests a topical eye formulation for an eye condition, which does not validate injected TB-500 for musculoskeletal recovery.
- Is TB-500 banned in sport?
- Yes. Thymosin beta-4 and related growth factors are prohibited under the World Anti-Doping Agency framework, so athletes subject to testing risk sanctions. This is independent of whether any recovery benefit exists.
- Is TB-500 safe to use?
- Its long-term human safety is not characterized. There is no completed safety trial for the recovery use case, and research-grade material carries purity and sterility risks. Absence of documented harm is not the same as demonstrated safety.
